Q
Can asthma be cured?
A
No cure has yet been found. But it can be treated and controlled. As long as your child sees a doctor regularly and takes the appropriate medication(s) exactly as prescribed, he or she should be able to lead a life mostly free of symptoms and flare-ups.

Q
Will my child outgrow asthma?
A
Many children do eventually outgrow their symptoms. In some cases, the asthma becomes milder and easier to control as a child grows older. In other cases, the problem disappears altogether. Sometimes, it also returns in adulthood.

Q
Should we consider moving to another climate?
A
There is often a link between asthma and weather. Some people believe that moving to a drier climate will help alleviate asthma. In cases where there may be a known trigger to your child's asthma in your area, this may be true. But more often than not, asthma symptoms are restricted to indoor triggers and not the area where you live. Do not move to another climate just because you think it will improve your child's asthma. Talk to your child's doctor first.
